As we advocate for a hate crime law in South Carolina through the Stamp Out Hate SC Coalition, we are often confronted with the question, “What makes hate crimes special and why do they need their own laws?” At this event, we will be joined by survivors of well-known hate crimes at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life, Mother Emanuel AME Church, and Pulse Nightclub in Orlando. Attendees will hear about how hate crimes impact individuals and the communities they are part of, and how we can take action in South Carolina to track and prosecute hate crimes
