When Martin assumes the role July 10, she will provide strategic leadership and development for the organization, lead its fund development initiatives, and manage the day-to-day operations.
“I moved to Charleston four years ago and consider this to be my home," Martin said. “I am honored to lead JEF at this time. I truly believe that miracles can happen when purpose and passion align with opportunity and possibility. This is how systems are changed, legacies are established, and communities and organizations come together for the greater good. The region’s Jewish community has a long history making lasting and impactful contributions. I look forward to building on this foundation in the coming years.”
Martin is currently the CEO of Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative in Charleston. Prior, she served as Vice President of Community Impact and Investments for the United Ways of Northeast Florida and Greenville counties. She earned her BS from The Florida State University, has won numerous awards and recognition for work and influence in the course of her career, has held leadership positions at her former synagogue, and holds a number of certificates in leadership development and management. Martin is well known for her candor, transparency, innovation, and unique ability to bring communities together to achieve their stated goals. Phyllis, her husband Tim, and their four-legged child, Finn, reside in West Ashley.
