Coming up at Jewish Studies

Tuesday, 9/9, 7:00PM, Recital Hall, Simons Center for the Arts
Halsey Institute exhibiting artist and native Israeli Yaakov Israel will present an artist talk focused on his career and photographic series "The Quest for the Man on the White Donkey" and sign copies of his monograph by the same title. A reception within his exhibition at the Halsey Institute will follow the lecture and guests can meet Israel and talk with him about his work and life. The event is proudly co-sponsored by the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program, Butcher & Bee, and Palmetto Brewery.

But is it Good for the Jews? – Southern Jews and the Civil Rights Movement
Fifty years after President Johnson signed the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964, Trinity University professor Cheryl Greenberg will examine both the overall trajectory of the national black-Jewish “alliance,” and the relationship of Southern Jews to that alliance.
