The first non-English film to be named “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the U.S. Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry tells the now infamous story of Tevye the milkman, living in Russian Ukraine and forced to reconcile the immense changes occurring in his heart and his tradition.
