Introducing The Inheiritance Project, a nation-wide theater project that is creating a play with the Charleston community for the upcoming Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and is asking you to join them in the process.

Jon Adam RossChantal Pavageaux and Darian Dauchan, a team of professional theater artists, are creating a play inspired by the biblical story of Rebecca devised from interviews, conversations, and workshops with people all over Charleston.

Artists make an impact every day by sharing vision and bringing beauty into our world. Often, however, we only get to see the end product. Perhaps you encountered this team in February, when they came to our fair city to engage both the Jewish and greater-Charleston community in the conversation. For two weeks, the team brought engaging activities to numerous schools, facilitated interfaith bible studies with Jewish and African American clergy, visited our synagogues and churches, and even ran programs for our local teens to get us all to wrestle with the themes in this great biblical story: motherhood, preference, favoritism, sibling rivalry, prophesy, trickery and more.

Play will be performed at PURE Theatre as well as houses of worship in Charleston:
6/7 6:00 performance
6/8 6:00 performance
6/9 6:00 performance
6/11 2:00 performance

This project is facilitated by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Charleston, an arm of Charleston Jewish Federation. To learn more, contact Rebecca Leibowitz Engel, RebeccaL@jewishcharleston.org.
