Shane Baker, dubbed by the New York Times as “one of the most prominent proponents of Yiddish theater, language, and culture in New York,” comes to Charleston directly from a critically acclaimed Off- Broadway run as Yankl Tshaptshovitsh, the brothel owner in Sholem Asch’s infamous God of Ven- geance. He was mentored by some of the last great stars of the interwar European Yiddish stage, and now you can get to know these larger than life characters for yourself as Baker offers personal and professional reminiscences, as well as his own opinions on the unique value of the Yiddish language.
