The Charleston Jewish Federation’s REMEMBER Program for Holocaust Education and Genocide Awareness produces Yom HaShoah annually for our Jewish community and the community at large. This year, we feel it is important to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of liberation the Concentration camps as well. This event will be held on the USS Yorktown to honor the survivors and liberators from all branches of the armed forces. In our current climate, it is more important than ever to share the stories of the Holocaust and to commemorate those who served as liberators.
Such a tribute is especially relevant for Charleston, not only based on our strong military presence and history, but in our community’s visible, significant support against violence and hatred.
