The Charleston Jewish Social Services was organized in 1951 to coordinate the programs of the local Jewish charitable organizations and committee.
Our mission is to fulfill the community’s obligation to support and assist its members in the Jewish tradition of helping people to help themselves.
Our goal is to preserve and protect the basic human needs of all members of the greater Charleston Jewish community and the community at large; and to promote, support and strengthen their positive social functioning.

Information and Referrals
To help clients deal with life’s problems. With a phone call or visit, we connect individuals with agencies and resources that are available in the Jewish community and the greater Charleston community.

At the Charleston Jewish Federation, we provide counseling to individuals, couples, and famlies dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief, and so much more. Please call Sara Sharnoff for more information at 843-614-6494.
In cooperation with the Jewish Community Center, we offer inexpensive and reliable transportation to medical appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores and to programs sponsored by the JCC senior program.

The Charleston Jewish Federation is proud to be a HALOS partner, helping to collect much needed items for abused and neglected children and their caretakers. HALOS' greatest needs at this time are for the following items:

The Charleston Jewish Community Food Pantry is our Jewish communal response to hunger in Charleston and reflects our commitment to the Jewish values of Tzedakah (justice), Tikkun Olam (repair of the world) and to serving community members in need with Kavod (respect).
